Orange County Food Safety Public Notification System
In order to keep the public informed about food safety and sanitation at Orange County’s restaurants and markets, Environmental Health Food Program provides a comprehensive Public Notification System. The system has four components:
The typed inspection report provides user friendly information not only to restaurant owners, but for anyone that wishes to view it. The report distinguishes violations that can cause foodborne illness (Major Violations) from those that do not (Minor Violations). The most recent food facility inspection report is required to be available for public view at all retail food facilities in Orange County. Just ask the food facility operator and they should make it available to you within a reasonable amount of time.
This incentive program identifies and awards food establishments that achieve excellence in food safety and sanitation practices for an entire calendar year. The food facility is issued a certificate that can be posted inside of the facility, and is listed as an Award of Excellence winner at ocfoodinfo.com. The web site ocfoodinfo.com provides the public access to three components of the public notification system.
Inspection Reports – Inspection report information for each food facility is available at the retail food safety program web site. You can conduct a search of every retail food facility and view a two year history for any facility. You can also review each inspection report in its entirety by clicking on the PDF icon located next to each entry.
Award of Excellence Listing – The list of facilities that received the Award of Excellence for the previous year is posted online for review.
Food Facility Closure Lists – All food facilities that have been closed are posted monthly. The list shows the facility’s name, address, the reason it was closed, date it was closed, and the date reopened.
In addition, ocfoodinfo.com posts information useful to consumers such as recall information and food safety tips.
